Chris Wootton
Born in Devon England, Christopher apprenticed in hair cutting and styling at French of London for 3 years and went on to study further with Vidal Sassoon, Toni & Guy and Trevor Sorbie.
Chris arrived in Canada in 1972 to work with the city’s first progressive hair salon to offer precision cutting that changed the industry locally. In 1979 Chris opened his own salon and quickly gained an excellent reputation for his hair cutting skills. Putting that reputation to work to benefit the industry, Chris opened a registered trade school in 1983. He then went on to open a second salon, Focus 5000, in Sidney in 1984. A few years later Chris succumbed to the charms of Sidney and moved his practise full time to Focus 5000.
In 1977 Chris took a year’s sabbatical to work for the transcendental meditation movement in Germany and France and eventually became a teacher. He spent time at the sacred mountain of Aranachula in southern India and at Ramana Maharishi Ashram and studied under many teachers. As a result his desire for the Ocean Palm Spa is to create a space for the development of peace and awareness of consciousness through the therapeutic physical nurturing of the spa experience. To that end Chris has taught meditation classes for guests and staff and has facilitated a spa retreat weekend including yoga, meditations and holistic spa services.
